Renowned influencer Logan Paul, whose activities span a broad range of interests from wrestling to podcasts and even beverage endorsements, continues to make waves in the public sphere. Alongside his recent mainstream endorsement of Prime, an energy drink, with fellow influencer KSI, he is yet to rectify his involvement in a suspicious crypto-based videogame venture, CryptoZoo, which failed to deliver on its promises after making millions.

The entire debacle surrounding the CryptoZoo operation came to light thanks to the diligent investigation by journalist CoffeeZilla earlier this year. His findings revealed a series of unsavory actions linked to Paul, who initially threatened to sue CoffeeZilla but later recanted, apologized, and pledged to make amends by promising refunds.

Reflecting on his initial reaction, Paul stated, “My first response to Coffee’s series was hastily made and didn’t address the real problem. I reached out to him today and apologized… I’m thankful he shone a light on this issue. I’ll be taking responsibility, offering apologies, and devising a strategy to address this soon.”

To compensate CryptoZoo’s backers, Paul vowed to allocate $1.8 million of his personal wealth to buy back any crypto assets purchased through the game at a guaranteed rate. However, it appears this outcome has yet to be realized six months down the line.

As Paul continues to prosper in his latest ventures, including public appearances promoting Prime, he seems to be sidestepping his obligations related to the CryptoZoo fiasco, mirroring how wealthy individuals often use their resources to appear well-intentioned through legal representation.

Astoundingly, CoffeeZilla, the journalist who first exposed the CryptoZoo scam and persuaded Paul to promise refunds, has been following up on this matter with Paul. After being ignored in his first three attempts, he received a response on the fourth attempt from a legal firm acting on behalf of Paul.

“We represent Logan Paul. Mr. Paul has briefed us on your inquiries regarding the CryptoZoo egg buyback. Mr. Paul remains committed to this process. We are collaborating with Mr. Paul to determine the best way to fulfill this commitment.”

Despite this response, there seems to be an unsettling lack of progress. Though the plan for the refund, involving a buyback scheme, appeared to be relatively straightforward, Paul’s delay in executing this promise suggests he might be hoping to move past this incident without fulfilling his pledge.

In Paul’s history, a number of scandals stand out. His career survived a controversial video posted in 2017 showcasing the body of an apparent suicide victim in Japan’s Aokigahara forest, for which he later apologized. Furthermore, CryptoZoo isn’t his first questionable crypto affair, as he previously endorsed a now defunct cryptocurrency called Dink Doink.

Despite its dubious history, the CryptoZoo website remains operational, claiming it is “undergoing upgrades to the core infrastructure of the ecosystem”. Yet the marketplace is still active, remarkably, despite the seemingly indifferent stance of its most prominent advocate.
